One of the many 'finger' noses we have on the grid today, I took a look at the Williams FW36 in the previous week. This car along with this famous livery has been one of the fan's favorites of 2014. And I couldn't disagree, the livery is a classic and looks absolutely stunning on any race car, for Williams after so many years with that same old 'dull' livery it was a much needed makeover.
Even though I'm not a fan of these new noses I have admit after you look at them more and more you begin to get used to what they are, and you no longer think "why do F1 cars look so ugly?" They are still ugly, but as long as you don't compare them with previous year cars its not so bad.
So as you may or may not know I've been editing some of the noses of VFR 2014, and after the F14T and RB10 this is the third nose I attempted to improve.
This nose really took me a long time, not just with the modelling but also with the texturing which I found particularly tricky with the Martini stripes curving along the side of the noses and finally onto the pillars. Although it's not quite the same as in real life, I thought with my current level of skills I couldn't have achieved much more.
So if you've been following me on Twitter you may have seen some of the modelling progress images I uploaded, well those pictures are quite old now as I've done more refinements to make it the best possible interpretation given the resources I have available. However, below I've taken some screens ingame of the car in it's current state (with all the refinements included).
Some people have asked me will I release this update? At the moment I'm thinking about making a pack of noses, so people don't have to download one after one which can be pretty annoying.
Although another thing I noticed is that people are not really providing the feedback after I share my updates which I do feel a bit disappointed about.
I do appreciate discussions, comments and feedback in any kind of form; positive or negative as long as they stay constructive I would take them into account. Though if its just plain silence, then I feel like my work is not enjoyed by people. But anyways enough of my rant... Below are the images.
